Hesketh

Hesketh Motorcycles, a name that has resonated in the British motorcycle industry, originated in the early '80s in Daventry and Easton Neston, Northamptonshire. Its path to success has been marred with obstacles, but the brand's resilience, innovation, and determination have left an undeniable mark. Lord Hesketh's passion for motorsports and a vision to revitalize the British motorcycle industry led to the inception of the company. Inspired by his Formula One racing success, the creation of a quality motorcycle was a pursuit of excellence. Prototyping began in 1980, culminating in the V1000 model, a significant milestone in British engineering.

Despite its technological advancements, the Hesketh V1000 faced manufacturing difficulties. The motorcycle's weight, high riding style, and overheating problems led to negative publicity and financial woes. The company's attempt to forge partnerships and develop the machine with external help proved futile, and the initial production ceased after 139 bikes.

Interest from Cagiva and Triumph Motorcycles did not lead to successful collaborations. However, Lord Hesketh's commitment to his vision led to the formation of Hesleydon Ltd, introducing the revamped V1000 Vampire. But the challenges persisted, and the Vampire production was also short-lived.

Lord Hesketh's plans were initially hailed as a turning point for the British motorcycle industry. Many small investors rallied behind the project, only to face disappointment and financial loss. Accusations of asset-stripping further clouded the company's reputation.

Mick Broom, part of the original development team, played a significant role in sustaining the brand. His efforts led to the improvement of the V1000, transforming it into a reliable tourer. Under his guidance, concept machines like the Vulcan and Vortan were also developed.

Facing relocation and even a significant burglary, Broom Engineering managed to persevere. Their relocation near Silverstone Circuit marked a new chapter in the brand's history.

Since 2010, the new ownership has focused on establishing Hesketh Motorcycles as a formidable British motorcycle company. With the release of the Hesketh 24, the first all-new model in thirty years, the brand continues to represent innovation and quality.

The Hesketh 24 is a symbol of the brand's legacy and a tribute to James Hunt's 1975 F1 car. With its limited production run, unique design, and exceptional performance, it signifies a promising future for Hesketh Motorcycles.
